Laser Micromachining Solutions attends the official ANFF opening
Approximately 100 guests attended the national opening of the ANFF that was held at the Shine Dome in Canberra on Friday 17 October, with the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Kim Carr, officially launching the facility. The official proceedings in the morning were followed by the first ANFF workshop, in which Board members, Node Directors, ANFF staff and others closely involved in running the facilities laid the foundations for the national facility, developed peer interactions across nodes and established a culture focussing on supporting user needs.ANFF - 17 October 2008 Pics
AAO - High precision masks for IRIS2
The Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO) won the prestigious Bradley Engineering Award for Excellence for a new astronomy camera IRIS2. Laser Micromachining Solutions was cited by the AAO for its part in fabricating the optical filters incorporating several high resolution micro-slots with a positional accuracy of 1 µm. The fabricated slots (being only a fraction of the width of a human hair) were used to view some of the most distant objects in the universe.Macquarie Researcher - December 2002 Read
